In light of how everyone seems to communicate today:
Two cold shoulders, keeping our distance
Wondering who will be next
To reach out across the virtual divide
And send that I’m sorry text
Or for those who hunger for a different angle:
Two cold shoulders, keeping our distance
We seem to be all that remain
Must be a new recipe on pinterest
Putting ham on everyone’s brain
Or possibly female duet:
Two cold shoulders, keeping our distance
Tired of trying to compete
For that man in the middle we thought was so great
That’s a lie what they say ‘bout big feet
There was a time
My heart would burn to hold her
And shelter her
From every ache and pain
But love would fade away
As we got older
Now we sit together
Two cold shoulders
The memory of love
Like lightning in the distance
When it rains
V1
Two cold shoulders, face to face we keep distant.
I hand you your coffee while you turn away.
This breakfast nook feels cold as I sit down across from you.
Small talk ’bout the weather sure won’t save the day.
V2
This doesn’t feel forced to say I feel something for you.
But I’ve got my defenses up ’cause you’re actin’ like we’re through.
Go ahead and tell me things I don’t want to hear.
Break the ice and end this winter.
We gotta get around these fears.
C
Spring, summer and fall feel like centuries away.
‘Cause we’re going stuck in cold winter with nothing at all to say.
Are we waiting on Cupid to come and save the day.
Or should we turn these cold shoulders and just walk away?
Are we waiting on Cupid to come and save the day.
Or should we turn these cold shoulders and just walk away.
(Thanks for encouraging me to write my most depressing song ever, ha.)
Two cold shoulders, keeping our distance
Shouldering the cold at this instant
The fire will just not start
In the hearth or our heart
Even with this match and our insistence…
•Two cold shoulders, keeping our distance, repelled by another’s invisible existence, fighting the loving force known as repentance and the way we both react.
•Miles apart, ’cause when the energy starts, the pulling power attracts our magnetic, hardened hearts. It’s being outta’ control and driven through the dark, while having to ride in the back.
•Two hot heads, thinkin’ on solidarity, but ranting alone on ice in North and South bi-polarity. Reaching out these days tends to be a real rarity, but it’s an irresistible attraction I must say.
•That natural charge draws us together, ’cause it’s the science of how we’re made that we bond in any weather. But on the flip side we’re so repulsed and hate to say never ever. I’m so positively negative, but stuck on you here today.
“…I know what I’ve done,
I know it wasn’t right,
I just need your love to keep me warm at night,
but I’ve got two cold shoulders,
keeping our distance now,
I can’t fix this if you wont talk to me,
I’ve got two cold shoulders….”
