Welcome to the 200th Wordplay Thursday!
WOW! I can’t believe you guys have helped keep this thing going for 200 weeks! Much fun!
Here’s a line to get you started. Feel free to use it to start off YOUR song, then go back and change this original line up a little bit. After all, other people will be using this one, too!
“If I’d known we’d be here today…“
I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!

If I’d only known we’d be here today,
I wouldn’t have been where I was yesterday,
If I’d only known I’d be kissing you,
Diving deep in the ocean of your eyes so blue
If I’d only known it’d turn out this way
I’d have planned every line of what I would say
If I’d only known, If I’d only known… that we’d be here today
If I’d known we’d be here today
I’d have taken better care of our yesterdays
Tomorrow would have meant so much more
Then what we now have in store
‘Cause the present can be just tossed away.
If I’d known we’d be here today
Would have had better yesterdays
The tolerance that was you
As I slowly grew
Gave us this anniversary day
-If I’d known we’d be here today, lookin’ back at ‘The Dance’ Garth sang, 27 years sure went but came with a boomerang, thrown by memories at my disbelievin’ head.
-Comin’ back ’round there’s no way, for a faithful heart askin’ questions to keep it straight. Or to dodge the reminders of that flyin’ blade, that keeps tellin’ me country music’s dead.
-Hard to put a steel and fiddle away, for a screamin’ Les Paul and digital drummer who’s lame. Then write about shorty’s, 40’s and tailgates, which made all the original Willie’s just wanna’ go to bed.
-So I take my pen, paper and claim, to write new songs with a twist from where it came. And to make double-dog sure there’s no shame in takin’ it a new direction ahead.
I dig it and agree wholeheartedly. Nicely done…
Much appreciated Derek!
(A little late but how could I miss #200. Relatability issues in this lyric outside of this group for sure…)

If I’d have known we’d be here today.
Making the climb kind of wondering are we able?
Write a thousand songs about whiskey and family and country.
Just to get with some songwriter’s stable.
V2
We’re climbing. We’re trying for that higher plateau.
They say they need us?
But do they see us and see that fired up glow?
Leveraging everything we’ve got so they’ll know.
C
I’d have leveraged everything to make more of the time.
Leveraged more green cash to give more to the climb.
Leveraged a few dark strong whiskey shots, please hold the lime.
Leveraged more for what we’d be doing.
I’d leveraged more to make that climb.
B
Better let this lyric sit in a long time slow juicy Find a better hooky main rhyme, make it shimmer, shimmer, glimmer.
