“Rumble”

Oh no. I feel the rumble
Distant beats of the jungle
Running for my life
One match and a knife
Brings on a man’s humble…
Goofy I know… ha… somewheres down in Mexico… South Mexico… 1867…
Rumble
The sky turns black like the dark side of the moon
Flashes of light spread across the sky like single strands of spaghetti
I feel a chill as the cold wind touches my skin
And fear fills my heart when I hear the rumble.
His little mumble’s ‘bout rumble.
He’s spittin’ angry words like a fighter bent and doubled.
She’ll bob-n-weave, put him to his knees. Ain’t no thang ‘less there’s trouble.
Trouble is, he thinks he’s king of her big ole pretty jungle.
She’ll tame that boy ‘cause it’s a ring on her mind.
Like Rocky runnin’ streets the crowd’s on her side.
Her swing leaves him spinnin’, seein’ diamonds with Lucy in the sky.
That Total Karat Weight’s a TKO and what makes him cry.
It’s a heartbreak when I hear a rumble.
GTO, lots of buttons and hands that fumble.
Friday night, stars up, top down kept us humble.
Both of us wishing for more and more.
Bat outta’ Hell, dirt curves we made straight.
Engine rumbles, we tremble. Our shifting bodies shake.
That night I got you home way too late.
I’d take sick fear again to have it all back.
Daddy bought his little girl that car.
Too much to handle if we’d ever gone that far.
Now packed for college, Baby you a star.
One of those stars we wanted more and more.
Remember me when you feel the need.
That rumbling rush drives a broken heart to bleed.
But love’s a good pain, so Baby please don’t speed.
I need you back in these arms again.
