Here’s a writing prompt for you. It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things.
“Hope is _____________________.”
I’ll give you one example to get you started:
“Hope is running into your ex, and she’s wearing your ring on her necklace.”
I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!
SHOUT OUT!
Thanks to Andrew Clayton, Nila Kay, Mark, Bryan Elliot, Derek Nyberg, cathy1112ct, Steve, and Jessica Stewart for their great additions to Wordplay Thursday #10 (read it here)! Great job!

Hope is, the heart arguing with the mind over facts
Hope is, moments we question regrets
Hope is, love that we have filled with distance
Hope is, what should be followed with actions to fulfill dreams
Hope is, the light that may lead us from the darkness
Hope is a knot on the rope of faith.
Hope is a southern home, front porch swing…
Hope is her soft morning touch when it seems like the chips are down…
Hope is the sparkle in a brand new daddy’s eye as he cradles his baby tight…
Hope is the hush of the hometown crowd, before the last second shot goes in…
Hope is a selfless gift from outstretched arms of enduring love and strength…
Hope is seeing my daughter asleep, my leg as her pillow, holding her head and me dreaming of what’s ahead.
Hope is premature certainty.
Hope is a really nice girl, but I dated her sister.
Hope is seeing the lights still on as I arrive late night.
Hope is the tidal wave that annihilates and cleans the slate of the victim who stands accused.
Hope is any song that you can sing when the world is coming down on you.
Hope is your closest friend, there till the end when there few choices left to choose.
Hope is anything that can lift you up, from your deepest rutt, in your darkest, coldest mood.
Hope is finding an old lottery ticket in your wallet
Hope is….
receiving that long awaited email thousands of miles away telling me, “Babe, I’m coming home!”
praying my children never will have to learn from my mistakes & bad choices I have made in life.
a word we all use frequently , with each of us having a different definition.
never giving up on faith, love, beliefs and personal goals one has set to acheive.
to meet Brent Baxter & to listen to him speak about how important songwriting became his life & career choice at
a future CMA Country Songwriters Series …lol, I just had too =)
A rainbow after the storm
A child’s laughing eyes
The Bible
A rope, tying you to a maybe.
Hope is
The fuel for life.
Knowing the the next road takes me home.
echoing through my veins.
Just enough to keep hanging on.
Keeps me looking for my next adventure.
nice one!
Hope is…
-playing a flute made from a cloud’s silver-lining
-an empty wallet and a head full of dreams
-planting a quarter in a pot of dirt and watering it
-digging for a diamond in a carbon pit […mine…cave?]
Planting the quarter..good one
Hope is not a strategy… get faith
