Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!
Here’s a writing prompt for you. It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things.
“She melted into his arms like _____.”
I’ll give you an example to get you started:
“She melted into his arms like an ice cube in a skillet.”
I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!
God Bless,
Brent

“She melted into his arms like butter on a baked potato.”
“She melted into his arms like the ice cream dripping from their sons cone.”
“She melted into his arms like the first night they made love.”
“She melted into his arms like cheese over nachos.”
“She melted into his arms like his stomach when he found where she’s been.”
… Like butter on a biscuit
… Like sherbet in the sun
… Like crayons on asphalt
… Like a loving dad’s heart on his daughter’s wedding day
1 – She melts his heart
Like snow in Boone, North Carolina.
It takes them back
To the room in their cabin
2 – She melts his heart
The sun
And grilled cheese
She’s the sugar in his coffee
And the ice in his sweet tea
3 – She melts his heart
Never knowing she had
A secret he kept
Behind the glass
She opened up
Her heart once sad
Love confessions
Secrets are out
The best summer they ever had
4 – She melts his heart
The best taste in his mouth
Melted chocolate on s’mores
Delicious without a doubt
He’s got to have more of it
Craving that sweet, sweet love
More than a kissing friendship
It’s a crush
She melted into his arms like a pad of butter on a stack of hotcakes.
She melted into his arms like the cover of a romance novel.
She melted into his arms like a marshmallow at a campfire.
She melted into his arms like Cathy and Heathcliff on the moors.
She melted into his arms like the sunset into the night sky.
She melted into his arms like-
-a shot of warm brandy
-honey from the hive
-butter on oven fresh biscuits
-she’d be his forever
-hot fudge on an ice cream sundae
Gonna have to try again later, my brain I cried today! 🙂
I hate auto correct! ‘My brain is fried’ !!!
like a black lab on a leather couch
like butter on a summer day
like the last moment of a sunset
She melted into his arms like…
a snow cone that was left alone.
a Butterfinger abandoned by its wrapper.
an Coca-cola Icee that someone pulled the plug on the machine.
She melted into his arms like…
a burning candle.
a coconut oil massage.
She melted into his arms
like a flock ducks landing on a pond
like God’s love should be
She melted into his arms like:
Norma Jean in a dream.
The moonlight sliding through the night.
She was born there.
She melted into his arms like the bubbling tar on a road in the hot south Texas sun.
Thanks for the inspirations Brent. I wrote “Like The Snow” from this. Here’s the words:
Like The Snow
————-
She was ready to have it all
She was ready to take on the world this time for sure
She was tired of waiting too long
She was ready to fin’lly belong and be known
And then she melted into his arms
Like the snow
She’s a heartbreaker, a rule shaker for sure
And then she melted
And then she melted
She melted into his arms
Like the snow
He had everything she wanted and more
He was something she hadn’t seen at all before
It was lightning and it was rain
It was fright’ning to feel the pain of a feeling unknown
And then she melted into his arms
Like the snow
She’s a heartbreaker, a rule shaker for sure
And then she melted
And then she melted
She melted into his arms
Like the snow
She melted into his arms,
Like a ghost on a feather bed.
She melted into his arms,
Like a prayer whispered desperately.
