Wordplay Thursday #282

Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!

Here’s a word or phrase to put in your lyric. Feel free to use it to start off YOUR song.  It could be in the first line of your song, or not.  You can get serious or silly.  Whatever gets you going!

“price”

I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!

  1. I’ll Pay The Price

    There’s a pack of cigarettes
    laying sideways on the table
    cup of coffee
    crossword ain’t finished yet

    smoke lingers over broken promises
    and soon to be regrets
    trade these hours for memories
of the day that we first met

There’s a bottle of Tennessee black
    half empty with cap off
    cellophane clicking
    where my finger taps

    God knows the the truth
of how bad I want you back

I took all your good advice
I went to hell and I walked it twice
Darling if you need more than that…
    I’ll pay the price.

    There’s lawnmower in the yard
    covered over by the weeds
    rusted handles
missing all of the safety guards

Got it running like the weekly news
think i found my calling card

I took all your good advice
I went to hell and I walked it twice
Darling if you need more than that…
    I’ll pay the price.

    Fixing me
ain’t as hard as missing you
    I hope you’ll see.
    I’m better now
than the day you slammed the door
    while walking out.

I took all your good advice
I went to hell and I walked it twice
Darling if you needed more that…
    I’ll pay the price.
