Wordplay Thursday #65

Wordplay Thursday

Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!

Here’s a writing prompt for you.  It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things.

“That river runs lazier than _____.”

I’ll give you an example to get you started:

“That river runs lazier than a Sunday afternoon nap.”

I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!

SHOUT OUT!

Thanks to Steve, Ken Matthiesen, Dionne Kumpe, Debbie Convoy, Janet Goodman, Ross Hemsworth, Jeff Green, Amy Nichols, theresavesnesky, Willa Thompson, terrygene, Bruce Singer, David Ayers, Matt Martoccio & Zowie Clarke for your great additions to Wordplay Thursday #64 (read it here)! Great job!

  1. That river runs lazier than a sleepy-eyed little girl.

That river runs lazier than a hound dog after supper.

That river runs lazier than a day off with no where to go.

That river runs lazier than a back porch and two glasses of wine.

That river runs lazier than a kid on summer vacation.

  2. The river runs lazier than: A hound in the shade A hot summer day A teen age boy on mowing day A union worker on double time Two old timers at a checker board A politician correcting a lie

  3. That river runs lazier than a seed freshly sown, waiting for sunshine and water to grow. Like a warm summer breeze softly sings in the air, while you sit on the porch in an old rocking chair.

  4. That river runs lazier than my git up and go is running today,
Just moving right along, humming its song ’bout this dreamy autumn day.
Yes, the nights coming on, there’s things to be done
But they can wait for this a moment like this
So I’ll sit here listening as the clear crisp water washes my cares away.
