Wordplay Thursday #110

Wordplay Thursday

Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!

Here’s a writing prompt for you. It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things.

“The visiting team got beat like _____.”

I’ll give you an example to get you started:

“The home team got beat like a Klansman at a Jay Z concert.”

Wordplay Thursday

I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!

And thanks to Linda Keser, Chris, Matt Martoccio, Mark Johnson, Eric Tingstad, Joe Sly, Ken Matthiessen, Michael Klenda, Nick S., Carrie, Will, Carol Katterjohn and everyone else for your great additions to Wordplay Thursday #109 (read it here)! Great job!

Wordplay Thursday is a great way to the get the creative juices flowing and get some songs started. But what about finishing songs? Sometimes that can be more difficult. That’s why I’ve written “Finish Your Song! 20 Ways To Overcome Creative Roadblocks.” Click here to find out how to finish more songs faster and better. Or click on the image below. Thanks!

God Bless,

  1. The visiting team got beat like…..
    …terrorists do by AMERICA!
…the AMERICAN Constitution beats any and all other writs.
…PLANNED P. remorseless parties unwittingly engage in their own beat down.
…our rejection of the Truth, the Life, and the Way.
    …criminally inane.

  2. like an old dusty rug with it’s last remaining few bare threads…

like a fence post that was hammered right into the ground…

Like a one legged man in a ass kicking
    contest…

  3. …an old dusty rug…that had seen better days…

…a fence post that was mercilessly hammered into the ground

…a cow with a broken leg trying run uphill…

  4. The visiting team got beat like…
    Rocky Balboa’s punching bag.
a snare drum in a garage band.
    a mole in a whack-a-mole.
a tin roof in a hail storm.
The Washington Generals in a Harlem Globetrotters game.
A hare with a moral to learn.
The catcher’s mitt during a Nolan Ryan no-hitter.
