Time to work “ON” my business!

SWP 4

I’ve written before about the importance of working ON your business verses just working IN your business.

Well, it’s time to take my own advice.

I’ve been so busy lately with work, family, adoption stuff, church stuff, workshops and keeping up with the blog that I haven’t been doing enough to prepare for the long-term growth of Songwriting Pro.

There are some cool things I really want to make available for you – things that I believe will help you grow as a songwriter – and things that will allow me to help MORE songwriters like you.

But I need to take some time to focus on preparing those things.

So I don’t plan on blogging any new stuff for the month of September.  But I believe it’s going to be worth it in the long run.  I appreciate your patience during this process.

If you want to check out some classic posts, there are several links below.  Also, I’m still taking entries for our first “Play For Publisher” event with Chris Oglesby of BMG Chrysalis through Sept. 24.  CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO SUBMIT A SONG.

Here are those classic blog posts.  Feel free to check them out or just go bouncing around the site – there’s probably some stuff you’ve missed or would enjoy reading again!

God bless and see ya soon,

Brent

  1. I am hopeful that everyone that enters this contest knows how special your creation of your songs is to those who hear them. I’ve written for 37 years, and haven’t seen anyone out there offering the information Brent is sharing with us. I accept I more than likely won’t get a pure country song listened to seriously, but I’m totally fine with that because what Brent is sharing with everyone is straight forward honest knowledge concerning the industry and how it works. Thanks for what you do Brent.

    1. Rick, thank you for the kind words! And I love “pure country” songs. I’m listening for great songs, not just songs that sound like the current top 40. Good luck!

  2. Hey Brent… 1st: how is the adoption process going? I know a couple in Colorado that are dear friends and they adopted a young (I think Hanna was 2) girl from China. She has geown into a wonderful young lady!! Good luck and great parenting!! 2nd: I submitted a song for consideration for your Play for a Publisher event and was simply curious if we will be notified that the submission was in fact received? Thanks and blessings on ya, Gregg <

    1. Thanks, Gregg- the adoption process is moving forward… slowly (as is the norm). I’ll check on your song. I’m sure it came through. If it didn’t, it would’ve bounced back to you. And I’m checking the spam filter and everywhere a song might’ve wandered. I don’t want to miss a single one!
