Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!
“She’s as gone as __________.”
Here’s a writing prompt for you. It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things- and try to get IMAGERY in at least one of your plays!
“She’s as gone as ________.”
I’ll give you an example to get you started:
“She’s as gone as Thanksgiving leftovers.”
I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!
God Bless and Enjoy the Journey,
Brent
Men sort of came out as a chorus:
She’s as gone as the moon on a cold winter’s night.
She’s as gone as the sun in a storm.
She’s as gone as the flame that once filled my heart;
She’s as gone, as gone can get.
I hate spell-check…I meant to say ‘mine sort of came out as a chorus’ ,not men 🙂 But that’s funny: Men sort of came out as a chorus….maybe could become a prompt…LOL
last line doesn’t work. S/B:
She’s as goons as the moon on a cold winter’s night.
She’s a gone as the sun in a storm.
She’s as gone as the flame that once lit my life;
She’s as gone, as my fragile heart’s torn.
??? a WIP (work in progress)
She’s as gone as the moon on a cold winter’s night.
She’s as gone as the sun in a storm.
She’s as gone as the flame that once lit my life.
She’s as gone, as my fragile heart’s torn.
OK I think all typos fixed.
She’s as gone as my last paycheck.
She’s as gone as our first kiss.
She’s as gone as fireflies in Georgia.
She’s as gone as a kite from a broken string
“She’s as gone as she can be.”
“She’s as gone as freight train.”
“She’s as gone as flash of lightning.”
“She’s as gone as a girl can be.”
“She’s as gone as it gets .”
She’s as gone as a soap bubble in the air floating up and away from here.
She’s as gone as a deep fly ball to center field…
good one!
“She’s as gone as __________.”
… the engine of my 55’ Ford,
I feel like a shell without floorboards
…I’m lost, not knowing where to go
Her leaving hit me harder than a Category 4
…my future down a rabbit hole
…a three-year old weight loss plan
She’s long, long gone
…my latest, groundbreaking thought
…as Houdini and his great escape
I never saw her untying the knot
She’s as gone as a sinner on Judgement Day, runs to God, but too late to pray
She’s as gone as the fragrance she wore that night.
That’s a good one!
She’s as gone as a dragon
She’s about as gone as;
– unbiased articles in Rolling Stone
– the good ole days
– normalcy, for my brother Tom, since he was sent home from ‘nam
– as a rotary phone
– our false sense of security, before 9-11
Love it, Tommy!
Hi, Tommy. Are you, by any chance, a 09/11 survivor or responder? I am. It would be great to talk to another, who is writing, now.
No Theresa, sorry, not at all. I was sitting at my desk in Tomball, TX when it all went down. TommyKib@gmail.com though, you can still hit me up and I’ll listen and respond, I promise.
Thank you, Tommy. That’s really nice. I’m thankful that people other than victims, family’s of the victims and survivors remember. Touching.
I have friends who want who want me to write a song about it. But ever person had a different experience that day. And there is a bit of survivor guilt that will not allow me to. That’s why I asked if you were a survivor. It would be interesting to hear from one who could write a song about it.
I like your writing. Keep at it!
Regards,
Theresa
She’s as gone as……..
the accidental word that slipped off my razor sharp tongue and chased her car down the road.
the mind a crazy man claims he still has, but nobody ever sees.
the live bait I gave the school of fish, who robbed me out on lake Norfork
a snowball rolling downhill and heading for Hell
your first cherry flavored lipstick kiss
She’s as gone as yesterday’s Snapchat
She’s as gone as last weeks paycheck
She’s as gone as a meatball in the dog’s bowl
She’s as gone as a snowman in July
She’s as gone as a Black Friday bargain
She’s as gone as a rock skipped on the lake
These are good! Thanks for participating!
thanks for the encouragement!
Another thought –
She’s gone as quick as an eraser’s target
Dusted off the page swept under the carpet
It ain’t no breaking news flash
She ain’t coming back
Cool. Good one!
She’s as gone as the sun at midnight.
She’s as gone as the end of our love.
She’s as gone as my heart that she took with her when she left.
She’s as gone as yesterday and tomorrow.
She’s as gone as my last lover’s song
She’s been sang like an out of tune whiner’s twang
She’s turning into the blues
Yea she’s as gone as the good luck story in yesterdays’s news
“She’s as gone as __________.”
…a good night’s sleep on a bad day
…my last remaining hope that just let go
…her youthful innocence, though it was always a little on the fence
She’s as gone as ;
… yesterdays ‘… sunset
… the green leaves of summer
… my last worst decision
… drought ending storms
