Wordplay Thursday

Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!

“She’s as gone as __________.”

Here’s a writing prompt for you. It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things- and try to get IMAGERY in at least one of your plays!

“She’s as gone as  ________.”

I’ll give you an example to get you started:

“She’s as gone as Thanksgiving leftovers.”

Wordplay Thursday

I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!

God Bless and Enjoy the Journey,

Brent

  1. Men sort of came out as a chorus:

    She’s as gone as the moon on a cold winter’s night.
    She’s as gone as the sun in a storm.
    She’s as gone as the flame that once filled my heart;
    She’s as gone, as gone can get.

    • I hate spell-check…I meant to say ‘mine sort of came out as a chorus’ ,not men 🙂 But that’s funny: Men sort of came out as a chorus….maybe could become a prompt…LOL

    • last line doesn’t work. S/B:

      She’s as goons as the moon on a cold winter’s night.
      She’s a gone as the sun in a storm.
      She’s as gone as the flame that once lit my life;
      She’s as gone, as my fragile heart’s torn.

      Love it, Tommy!

    • Hi, Tommy. Are you, by any chance, a 09/11 survivor or responder? I am. It would be great to talk to another, who is writing, now.

      • No Theresa, sorry, not at all. I was sitting at my desk in Tomball, TX when it all went down. TommyKib@gmail.com though, you can still hit me up and I’ll listen and respond, I promise.

        • Thank you, Tommy. That’s really nice. I’m thankful that people other than victims, family’s of the victims and survivors remember. Touching.

          I have friends who want who want me to write a song about it. But ever person had a different experience that day. And there is a bit of survivor guilt that will not allow me to. That’s why I asked if you were a survivor. It would be interesting to hear from one who could write a song about it.

          I like your writing. Keep at it!

          Regards,
          Theresa
