  1. ‘Wishful Thinkin’

    V1.
    Christmas is over,
over and gone but not lost.
    Memories we made,
made a nice picture at a cost.
Was the price just too high to pay,
for something you thought would fade?
If I’d have gotten your heart for Christmas girl,
I’d bet next year would’ve been great.

    V2.
What I got was a good time,
of good time Charlie so I could fly.
Got past losin’ Dad last year
and at last check, I didn’t cry.
I got a big box of reality
and a real sour mash smiling face.
If I’d have gotten your heart for Christmas girl,
it would’ve been by God’s grace.

    CH.
    Wishful thinkin’,
    on what Santa didn’t bring.
    Wishful thinkin’,
checkin’ my phantom cell phone rings.
    Wishful thinkin’
and drinkin’ til the lights go out on the tree.
    Wishful thinkin’
and gettin’ over the Christmas of you and me.

      1. Thanks Sandra! It’s a bit wordy and could definity be done in a little more current slang to be anything worth anythinng. -Just the 2 cents I’d give for it. Hahaha! But I do appreciate your comment greatly! Take it and make it better for me. That Brent Baxter just has a way of stirring me up with this stuff. (Lol).
        ~Happy New Year Sandra! ?

          1. Hahaha!………Oh, Brent Baxter!!!
(kinda’ like when Seinfeld would mention Newman)
As Carly Simon said, “Nobody does it better!” Not from the country hammer to country nail perspective anyway! -Fo sho! And no, not hammer like cheese-n-hammer. No sandwiches or ghosts eating breakfast toast Brent.

Somebody cue the James Bond ‘Spy Who Loved Me’ music here for my man. Good song!
