Wordplay Thursday

Welcome to Wordplay Thursday!

Here’s a writing prompt for you. It’s a simple fill-in-the-blank. You can use one word or several. Feel free to get as crazy, genre-appropriate, or as imaginative as you want. The point is to get the creative juices flowing. And it’s a good thing to dig deeper, so don’t stop at the first idea that hits you. Try coming up with at least five things.

“Regret is _____.”

I’ll give you an example to get you started:

“Regret is long sleeves on a hot day just to hide a Spring Break tattoo.”

Wordplay Thursday

I’d love to hear what you come up with, so please share in the comments. Oh, and please keep your posts below an R-rating. It’s a family show, after all!

And thanks to Ernie Welch, Linda Keser, Tommy Kib, Tomas Giraitis, Matt Martoccio, Nancy Deckant, Ken Matthiesen, Debbie Convoy, Nick S., Jerry Childers, Kim Kondrashoff, Debbie Davidson, Barney Coulter, Pat Aureli, Joe Slyzelia and everyone else for your great additions to Wordplay Thursday #130 (read it here)! 12. “Regret is _____.”

…what I named that egret that I just watched fly away

…one thing that can cause you to run into a wall because you’re looking back instead of forward

… usually the result of a refusal to forget

… when you’re shedding tears instead of sweat

… the custom plate on her new Corvette

I wont go into details, but I came up with a little mantra when I was going through oh, 120 or so hours of “intense group therapy” to stay out of court, and yes it was worth it and I’ve got no regrets, in that situation because the result was expungement (all files were certified to be shredded) :-))))

The mantra is “Respect the threat (temptation) to avoid having to live with regret”

You’re welcome to use it as needed!

    Peace! TK

  13. I realized I typed in an incorrect email.. when I posted my brilliant comments.. HEHE! I regret that.. OK now I’m over it.

    – Regret is.. what I named that egret that just took flight

    – Regret is.. never the result of hard sweat

    – REGRET is.. her custom plate on her new red corvette

    – Regret is.. something that can hijack a mindset

I came up with a little mantra/saying when I was doing a lot of hours of “intense group therapy” to get expunction rather than trial, that coincidentally, that decision to plea is not something that I have regretted… and the day I got the certified letters that all records were destroyed, was a very happy day! :-))))

“Respect the threat (temptation basically) to avoid living with the regret”

Sure, you can use that one, You’re welcome!

    Have an AWESOME weekend everyone!

    TK

  14. Regret is….
Not a dang thing I need or want.
    A six letter word.
A choice that I can control.
Creeping up on me like the serpent…then I say, “Get behind me, beeeeotchhhh.”

  15. Regret is the domain of the past. It is the drink spilled on my first date’s dress..my Father’s face on a crummy report card .. the shot missed to win the game ( and the home crowd silence ).. Hope to have less as I travel

  16. Drinking whisky only makes me think of you, waking up in this hotel only makes me blue, I’ve had regrets no ones been through, guess what I’m saying is your the only one who’s made my life so true that nothing else to this world compares to you. I’d give anything to hold you near, my worlds upside down, darling it’s clear, no one else can fill this void, we’ve been through, my biggest regret is walking out on you! “Regret”.

  17. Regret is watching your phone slip from your shoulder into the porta-potty.
Regret is a full frontal rash the day after surfing without a wetsuit.
Regret is an instant message sent in the instant you were scorned.

  18. Regret ain’t nothin’ but a memory,
    In the company of misery.
